Jervis Bay

Southern Highlands

En Route:
Today you’re visiting beautiful Jervis Bay, the jewel of the South Coast of New South Wales. Heading out along the Pacific Highway, your Driver Guide will provide expert commentary as you travel through the area known as ‘the Shire’.

Bald Hill Lookout
This morning you’ll travel on the motorway heading south towards Wollongong, to your first photo opportunity at Bald Hill Lookout. Admire the inspiring 360° views. You may even spot a hang glider or two.

Sea Cliff Bridge
Drive across the iconic Sea Cliff Bridge for amazing views of the coastline. The bridge hugs the coast between the high battlements of the Illawarra Escarpment, looming like the great wall of a lost world, and the vastness of the Tasman Sea - an ocean view so wide you can see the curve of the Earth.

Kiama Blowhole
About 40 minutes south of Wollongong is Kiama, the largest town in the region. It boasts a famous white Lighthouse and big and small blowholes, where spectacular plumes of water spray up to 60 metres into the air, noisily erupting through natural holes in the coastal rock – in fact, its Wodi Wodi Indigenous name, Kiarama-a, means ‘where the sea makes a noise’! Enjoy some

Jervis Bay
See great Australian surf beaches, the picturesque southern New South Wales coastline and pretty holiday townships along your coastal journey to Jervis Bay, an area which is recorded as having the whitest sand in the world! This expansive coastal bay area is surrounded by charming seaside villages, with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, all bounded by national parks.

Dolphin Watching
In Jervis Bay you’ll board the Tekin lll, a purpose-built catamaran with three viewing levels and a special bow-mounted camera. You have the opportunity to see playful pods of wild dolphins leap and spin from the sea. Watch for other marine life – whales occasionally visit this area on their migration between September and December. Enjoy a salad lunch on board.

Southern Highlands
On your return you’ll take the inland route. Travel through the Southern Highlands, with its native temperate rainforest and hardworking rural communities. Many towns along the way boast mansions and beautiful gardens, a legacy to their commercial success. Next stop is Kangaroo Valley and its towering sandstone cliffs and valleys of Morton National Park.

Note: In rare circumstances the itinerary may alter due to seasonal tidal conditions.
